About Me
I am currently a Postdoctoral Fellow in American Political Thought at the Kinder Institute on Constitutional Democracy at the University of Missouri. I research the history of political thought with particular interests in African American thought, American political development, and political economy. My first book project, The Real Revolution Within, asks why did early twentieth century African American activists understand cooperative institutions as necessary conditions for Black freedom?
I earned a PhD and an MA in Political Science from the University of Chicago and a BA with honors from Northwestern University. The Social Science Research Council and the Center for the Study of Race, Politics, and Culture at the University of Chicago have supported my research. My writing can be found in outlets such as American Political Thought, Political Theory, and The Chicago Sun-Times.
Outside of academic work, I enjoy hiking, swimming, volunteering for political campaigns, and refining my vegetarian cooking skills. My three cats consume much of my free time.
